Explosion proof in Class II Division II
Explosion proof in Class II Division II
(OP)
I'm working on a design for a Class II Division II location where a mobile oven is connected.
The corded plug for this oven is a normal NEMA 5-20R.
From what I've found in my Appleton catalog, there is no explosion proof receptacle that can accomodate a regular NEMA configuration. (Unless I'm missing something)
Can an appropriate plug be fitted to the oven without affecting it's UL listing? (explosion proof plugs can be had from Appleton).
Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I agree with earlier post that the cord could be hardwired, or sent with an appropriate connection, or......extend the cord to a receptacle beyond the hazardous area classification (if long enough or goes thru a seal fitting). Flexible cords are allowd in classified hazardous areas under special conditions (i.e.: for a lift pump)
