Rubber Formulation Company

Rubber Formulation Company

(OP)
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a company that is capable of producing a new natural rubber that is specially formulated to meet the needs of my application.  I know which physical properties I would like the "ideal" rubber to have but don't know if it's possible to work with a company on making it.

Thanks very much

D

RE: Rubber Formulation Company

In the UK you could try

ARTIS, avon rubber technology and innovation science (or something similar (formally avon rubber materials development centre)

or I think Milliken Rubber also have a materials development centre.

If your USA based then I've heard Akron Rubber are one of the best in the business and have a development lab but I really can't comment.

RE: Rubber Formulation Company

In the US, and elsewhere, there are custom mixers who will work with you to develop a compound to meet your property requirements, with NR or other rubbers. Some of these are Excel Polymers, Gold Key Processing, and Dyna-Mix. They will generally own the formulation, and will provide mixed compound to you based upon that formulation.
If you want the formula developed for you, so that you own and control it, going to a development lab like Akron Rubber Development Lab, as suggested above, is the way to go, although the cost of development may be significant. With the custom mixer approach, they may not charge anything for development, but will make their money when they sell you the mixed rubber.

RE: Rubber Formulation Company

You could always try Rubber Consultants, a UK-based company that specialises in small volume mixes.  Google them for contact details.  They're based in Brickendonbury.
