Design criteria for crusher housing..

Design criteria for crusher housing..

Design criteria for crusher housing..

(OP)
I have been tasked with designing a crusher housing for a double roll crusher. The housing shall be approximately 7 meters long and 5 meters wide. What kind of loads is one to consider when designing such structures? How would one calculate a reasonable impact factor for objects striking the walls?

RE: Design criteria for crusher housing..

I've found that fatigue due to cyclic vibrations is the first hurdle on crushers, not impact.  Have you looked at operating speed, natural frequency and resonance?

As for impact, you can calculate anything, but with crushers the variables can be very difficult to quantify.  ie max lump size, velocity, etc.  For crushers I insist on field trips to get a feel for the machine.

RE: Design criteria for crusher housing..

Need to line crusher walls with "Cromguard" or similar for wear.
