B31.3 Weld Strength Reduction Factor "W" for Low Alloy Steels
B31.3 Weld Strength Reduction Factor "W" for Low Alloy Steels
(OP)
Recent Code Editions have included a new factor, termed "W" (Weld Strength Reduction Factor), to be included in thickness and other calculations. The factor is the same for all materials although the Code provides latitude in this regard if other data is available to the user.
Is anyone aware of any other published values for "W" for 2-1/4Cr-1Mo longitudinal welds?

The following WSRF's were reviewed by the various SG's under Section I, SCI and had passed the MC of ASME B&PVCS on the last letter ballot.
For Cr-Mo alloys up to 5 %Cr;
800 deg F WRF 1
850 0.95
900 0.91
950 0.86
1000 0.82
1050 0.77
1100 0.73
