I want to look at just the top chords of a group  of trusses that I have modeled....these are sloping members so if select an elevation along the chord I only see the node at that elevation.  If I go above the entire structure all the elements below show up making it difficult to deal with only the top chords of the trusses.  is there a way to isollate only the members i want to see in a sloped view?

You could select the top chords you want to view by clicking them individually or by using one of the other select menu options. After you've selected the chords of interest, under the SAP view menu is an option to "Show selection only". That should give you what you want. If you think you may need to view or assign loads to certain elements repeatedly, you can assign them to a group.
