RE: JPG not supported in drawings?

What version are you using and what steps to insert the picture?

RE: JPG not supported in drawings?

Have you tried ... Insert > Picture?

BTW using a JPEG in SolidWorks or Word or PowerPoint is not considered to be a good practice, since most Windows programs do not support the lossy compression and actually uncompress the JPEG into a bitmap. This is why inserting a JPEG makes the file very large and many times affects performance. You may want to use GIF or TIF instead.

RE: JPG not supported in drawings?

Open the image in an OLE compliant viewer (XnView, IrfanVIew, Paint, etc) first, then copy and paste from there.

cheers

BMP works apparently.  JPG comes in as a link.

I am doing insert->object and then picking the image file.

I am on 2008/PDM SP2.1

RE: JPG not supported in drawings?

I would suggest converting the jpg to a bmp anyway, because the jpg compress method isn't supported by many programs, so it ends up being the same size in the filesize as an uncompressed format, just with more work for the software. :)
