Voltage drop and short circuit current of a mining cable

Voltage drop and short circuit current of a mining cable

Voltage drop and short circuit current of a mining cable

(OP)
I need to make calculation of voltage drop and short circuit current for some mining cables. Cables are supplying variable speed asynchronous motors, and 5th and 7th harmonics are present. Motors are using ABB's ACS800 dives, with some modules added. I need to add influence of harmonics on  voltage drop and short circuit current in my calculations. If anyone knows what are the relevant IEC standards on this  matter, please give me a hand :).

RE: Voltage drop and short circuit current of a mining cable

The old ANACONDA company (now Cablec I think) had some very good tables for their mining cable relative to impedance and voltage drop etc
This would get you in the ball park. You can then look at some IEEE references or other publications to add a factor or so for the harmonic curent contributiuon.
This would be a good first order approach.

you will need to know the magnitude of the 5th and 7th harmonics and use the skin effect to calculate the resistence relative to each harmonic and associated voltage drop.
