(OP)
Is there a way to import a floor layout from autocad into solidworks, so that i could position the robots, and workcell in there world position. Once everything in its correct position I would be able to preform a basic reach study with robots that where flexable assemblys.

thanks for any help and advice

Matthew

RE: inserting workcell layouts

Copy the lines/arcs etc. in AutoCAD, then start a new sketch in SW and paste.

Rather than copy the complete floor plan, I'm not sure if you would want to copy the individual machines into it's own part and then start an assembly and insert the individual machines instead.

Another option would be to save the machines as a block in SW and re-use them as necessary.

You can insert DXF and DWG into a SW part, "Insert --> DXF/DWG".

RE: inserting workcell layouts

I have used the insert per TheTick.
It may bog down your pc though.
