Water Treatment

(OP)
We are operating a Used Oil Lube refinery which generates water with very high CoD and TOC. We are using bioreactor process to treat the water but still the treated water gets high COD / BOD and cannot be discharged to local regulatory discharge network. Any suggestions to tackle this problem. Wehre to find expertise to refer the problem to. Appreciating responses on this thread

RE: Water Treatment

If your facility was properly designed, constructed, and operated, you would have no problems meeting the discharge requirements. There are similar wastewater treatment plants that accomplish this as standard practice.

Your question is too general to answer. Why don't you provide some specifics such as the types of unit processes involved and volume of flow?

A refinery wastewater treatment plant would typically include oil removal processes such as DAF, as well as an activated sludge process to remove dissolved organics.

Thanks for your response - both dbaird and bimr. You are correct that the design was not proper in the beginning and we are struggling till date. I will share this thread with my process engineers and would respond with more details.

In the meantime, please advise if you know of any contact in Middle East. We are running our plant in Saudi Arabia

RE: Water Treatment

I would think that Fluor Daniel would be of assistance to you in the Middle East.
