new roller coaster design

hello all - i have an idea for a linear transfer device
for a machine at our company - i would like to design something similar to the way the new roller coasters are designed w/ tubular rails & roller assemblies running on them - anyone have any info or direction that i may find some info on the rails or the roller assemblies?? - suppliers or parts manufactures?? - any help would be very appreciated - thank you

RE: new roller coaster design

Lots of companies doing factory automation have that sort of thing.  I don't recall any names, offhand, but the semiconductor industry is one that uses rollers, rails, etc. in manufacturing to move materials around.

RE: new roller coaster design

hello again - thank you for the reply but the type of machinery that we build is much much larger then some of the equipment used in the semi conductor industry - this equipment must move items weighing 200# or more - i am looking for a more inexpensive transfer method then commercial linear rails/shafts(i.e. thk or thompson, etc.)
my idea was to bend tubular steel & make or buy rollers like a roller coaster - any other help would be apprecaited - thank you

RE: new roller coaster design

Google for term "cam followers", you should find people like McGill or Emerson Power Transmission.  Dynamic load ratings in excess of 200lb are cheap and common.

RE: new roller coaster design

I wouldn't try bending Thompson gibs!  Not a good idea.
