Material certified to NACE MR103 & MR0175

Material certified to NACE MR103 & MR0175

Material certified to NACE MR103 & MR0175

(OP)
One of our customers has specified that the material (106 GrB) to be used on their project must be certified to NACE MR103 & MR0175.

Does this mean that the pipe material supplier has to furnish an MTR with the NACE standards stated or does it mean that we have to do in-house tests and produce a certificate of conformance ourself.

I am no expert when it comes to NACE!!!

Thanks

RE: Material certified to NACE MR103 & MR0175

For MR0103, assuming that the A106 is not cold drawn and (process) annealed, the only supplementary requirement over and above A106 will be no intentional addition of lead or selenium. How the supplier certifies that this is the case is dependent upon what is specified to be contained in the inspection documents (MTR).

For MR0175-2, provided that the end user has only invoked Annex A.2 requirements, then Rockwell C hardness test results will be the only supplementary element to A106 (again assuming that the A106 is not cold drawn and (process) annealed).  How the results of these hardness tests (and, come to think of it the frequency of testing) is to be reported in the inspection documents is dependent upon what is specified to be contained in the inspection documents.

Therefore, it would appear that it would be best to ask your customer what their specific requirements are for the content of the inspection documents.  It might be possible to discuss specifics if the use of EN 10204 and EN 10168 standards for inspection documents were invoked but the use of the term 'MTR' implies that this transaction is occurring in the US where I am not familiar with standards for inspection documents.  Still, I hope to have been some help.
