please i do not understand P&IDS IN PROCESS SIMULATOR.
Can anybody that has a better understanding of it help me.thanks

RE: process simulator

Hi.What do you mean by that? Explain what do you not understand and in which simulator? Be more detailed about the problem to get answer.

RE: process simulator

(OP)
i have been invited for an interview as a chemical  process simulator trainee and the few tips i got from google on process simulator,i dont seem the understand.now someone told me to learn about P&IDs as well.
this is how far i can express it.thanks 4 ur interest.

RE: process simulator

What is you background? Are graduated as Chem.eng ?

RE: process simulator

If you don't know what a P&ID is, then do not waste your time going to a simulation class.

If you can't simulate it by yourself with hand of spreadsheet calculations, it'll be a waste of time.

RE: process simulator

At the end of the day i will agree with dcasto.

You must understand much more than P&ID's in order to understand process simulation. Thermodynamics being one of the major issues.

Since we dont know your background it is hard to say what you need to study before strating on process simulations.

In my opinion yoou could learn about process simulators if you know about thermodynamics and unit operations.

Remember that "process simulations" with regards to chemical engineering is a rather narrow subject and that you may get a lot of unrelated "noise" when you search broadly on this subject.

Best regards

RE: process simulator

What they said.

P&ID's are piping and instrument diagrams.  This reflects the process flow including all majore equipment such as vessels, pumps, compressors, piping and instruments.  Obtain a typical symbology legend sheet and some P&ID's for the flow diagrams to be meaninful.

Process simulations can be static or dynamic.  The PROCESS SIMULATOR requires the flow paths and equipment data for the process equipment.  Then they do magic for chemical engineers.  Search for Aspen Technology, SimSci, etc.

BTW, the other responders know lots more about process simulation than me.
