TEXT acting up in Drawings

TEXT acting up in Drawings

In 2K7 i could double click on text and start typing right away.  I could also drop new text and start typing right away.

Now i double click to edit and it goes into edit mode but the cursor doesnt edit anything... I type and nothing happens.  Same with new text.

Also the symbols dont work on text.  I want to put my fist through the monitor by now, any help is appreciated.

RE: TEXT acting up in Drawings

I don't see any issues with mine. Have you tried restarting SW or your pc?

Yes I have. This problem has been happening to me since i upgraded to 08.  The systems admin is upgrading me to the latest service pack this afternoon.  we'll see if that fixes the problem.

okay the problem is not fixed after the SP2.1 installation.

I have narrowed it down though, it only happens in BOM's and Revision Blocks in drawings.

RE: TEXT acting up in Drawings

I was on the phone with a service tech from my VAR and he asked if I was having this problem. He mentioned that he was aware of it. Since I am not having that problem in addition to the problem I am having we did not persue it. I mention this only to say that perhaps you should put a call or email in to your VAR.

RE: TEXT acting up in Drawings

Here's a kick in the head. I just downloaded and installed SP3.0. It is rocking! No crashes for two days. Oh wait a second..... I can't enter special characters in the Revision Table anymore! Doh!

RE: TEXT acting up in Drawings

Update from my VAR: I need to turn off my 3DConnections device to get the special characters to work. I can turn it back on after the edit but some of the panel buttons don't respond until I restart SW.

RE: TEXT acting up in Drawings

Installed SP3 last night and have not seen any of the problems mentioned ... yet.

cheers

Im not turning off the spaceball to insert a diameter callout, that's just dumb.  Need to install SP3.0 to see if that fixes it.

RE: TEXT acting up in Drawings

In my case it was installing SP3.0 that made the special characters no longer functional. VAR tells me the rest of the 3DConnection fixes are in the works. I was having a crashing issue prior to 3.0 which has not surfaced in three weeks. I'll work around the special characters thing for a little while before I start to complain (again).
