Will a Rotosonic Drill rig consolidate soil in advance of the bit?  I have a project were split spoon samples were collected on a rotosonic drill rig in non-cohesive saturated sand.  The density obtained from these samples seemed high in my opinion.  Knowing that you can vibro-compact sand I am suspicous of the samples actually representing the in situ density.  Any comments and direction to specific references will be appreciated

RE: Will a rotosonic drill consolidate

NVcaster,

I would think that if you needed a rotosonic rig to obtain the samples, that the density of the soil would be rather high to begin with.
