NFPA 90A AHU shut down & smoke dampers

NFPA 90A AHU shut down & smoke dampers

(OP)
Our project has air handling units without any smoke dampers physically on the unit; the first main smoke damper is downstream inside the ductwork where it first penetrates a fire-rated partition (in this case it is the floor slab above/below the air handling unit).

When an AHU is shut off, does NFPA 90A dictate that this associated smoke damper close?  From what I'm reading & hearing, the smoke damper that NFPA 90A refers to is the smoke damper that is physically at the unit.  I have also read that "remote" smoke dampers at smoke barriers need not be closed when the AHU is shut off.  If the first main supply smoke damper is at a "remote" smoke barrier, is that damper required to be closed?
