Where can I find information for calculating deflection, bending moments, and shear under uniform pressure and point loads or both? Much appreciated.

Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain

RE: Circular plates

I agree with PSlem - Roark's book (its my first choice for this type of problem).

For a simple solution - flat plates subject to a uniform pressure - have a look at 'Design of Welded Structures' by Blodgett (the first of the Lincoln Arc Welding books).  Formulas for circular, square & elliptical plates are in the section on Tanks, Bins & Hoppers - Table 1 (p6.5-3 in my copy).

RE: Circular plates

Roark's is by far the best resource for this, but take some time to read through interpretation of the tables, it's not like picking out a bolt shear value from an AISC table!

RE: Circular plates

Ditto Roarks - Table 11.2 in my 7th edition, lots of different edge support and load conditions.  Should have all you need.

Advanced Strength and Applied Stress Analysis by Budynas

It's got a good section of circular plate theory as well as a limited (but very simple) table for circular plates under varying loading and boundary conditions

Thanks all. That was very helpful!
