Inventor crashes during rectang array

Inventor crashes during rectang array

Inventor crashes during rectang array

(OP)
I have had multiple instances where Inventor V11 crashes during a simple rectangular array. I am in an Assembly, in the “Machining” browser section, and go to array a cut out. When I attempt to do this the system crashes. I have searched the Inventor Website for a hotfix for this issue, but have found nothing.

FYI: I have SP2 loaded as well as one Hotfix to correct the licensing issue problem.

Can anyone tell me a way around this?

RE: Inventor crashes during rectang array

Are any of the parts adaptive or flexible?
What constraints are applied to the parts?
Are any constraints applied to other rect. patterns?

Crashes during a rectangular array are more than likely probably caused by improper constraints or adaptive/flexible parts.

Can you post a simplified assembly that shows this crash?

Can you shrink down the assembly so only the patterned parts are there and see if the crash is still happening?

You suggestion about the improperly applied restraints is right on the money!

After finding a number of these yesterday afternoon, I ended up rebuilding the assembly this morning from scratch (in less time than it took to fix them). This fixed the problem.

Thank you for your help!
