I want to use a 1/2" dia pin in shear at -49F but am concerned about it being brittle at -49F.
Are there cold temp tensile & impact properties avail somewhere?
I am considering just making my own pins from A479-XM19 stainless if I can't use these off the shelf pins from Driv-Lok.com. I called the vendor but they have never been asked this question.

One question; does the pin see impact type loading conditions in service at this temperature?

metengr - yes it will have impact loading, but the impact shear load will only be about 9,000 lb versus the rating of 21,000 lb for this particular 1/2" dia pin. UTS approx 110kpsi.

4140 (known as grade L7) is one of the standard materials. The standard requires an impact strength of 20 J when tested at - 100 °F with the Charpy test method. To achieve this, the strength is limited to 125 ksi, and hardness limited to 235 HB or 99 HRB. The phosphorus concentration is limited to 0.035 %, and sulfur is limited to 0.040 %.
