Searching for force transducer.

Searching for force transducer.

Searching for force transducer.

(OP)
Hi
Is there anyone out there who could advise me the various
force tranducers that can be used for monitoring the crimp
force from an crimping press in order to detect crimping
abnormalites such as missing crimp, over and under crimp,
damaged crimp etc. The ones that  we are currently using makes use a piezo transducer as the sensor. I am looking for
other kinds of transduces that have greater senstivity ( i mean larger signal output for a finite input.

RE: Searching for force transducer.

Hi mooimooi,
I believe, piezo transducers are the ones with the highest possible voltage output signal, if they are followed by a correctly designed charge amplifier, and only for varying forces (inside several seconds, with respect to the leakage currents of the electronics and the transducer itself).
Maybe, strain gages produce a smoother signal, but you have to amplify the output voltage.
In the end: a sensor without signal conditioning electronics will not satisfy the needs.
There are some other very cheap foil-type transducers (based on resistance change) on the market, but not very linear and especially not long-time stable.

Hi Tiki,
Thanks alot for your informative data. Maybe, I will just
check on the strain gage type and use appropriate signal
conditioning circuit for amplification.

Joy to you.

Hi Kenneth,
Thank you very much indeed for the useful website address.
It was really good and it gave me some insights and inputs on its application.
Joy to you.

Hi jbartos,
Thank you for this  useful website. With this, I
can even find the suitable distributor in Asia.
Thanks once again
