Line Thickness for Balloons

Line Thickness for Balloons

Line Thickness for Balloons

(OP)
Hello All,
Can the line width for balloons be specified? I do not see it listed in document properties. Are its properties linked to another type of annotation? I am running SW2008.
Thanks

RE: Line Thickness for Balloons

I don't know of a way to change them. They should be the same thickness as a dimension.

Chris,
I tried that already. Balloons are not controlled by dimension properties. Oh well, Thanks anyway.

RE: Line Thickness for Balloons

Yes, I know they are not controlled by dim props. Sorry, I meant they should be the same line thinckness as dims...standard drafting practice.
I don't think they can be changed in SW.

Yes, I do know that it is standard drafting practice, but every once in a while a special situation arises where it would have been nice. It was more for illustration purposes for our weld shop.
Thanks again.

You could change the font to Ariel Black Bold to make individual balloons stand out, although it doesn't change the line width.

RE: Line Thickness for Balloons

Create a Layer called Balloons and move your Balloon annotations to it. Give this layer a wider line thickness and you'll get what you're looking for.

It may not display as thick on screen but when printed out they will be thick as long as they are on the Balloons Layer. You can check if they got moved by clicking the Light Bulb to toggle the display on and off.

The same method applies to BOM Text and thickness. When creating a BOM the last option in the Property Manager is Layer.

Michael -
This doesn't work for me. Perhaps you have some other setting checked? I have SW2008 SP1.1.
