Fluid velocity for pemeability

Fluid velocity for pemeability

(OP)
Hello,

For an analysis, I have material properties with elastic and permeability features.  When looking at the results, does anyone know how to extract the fluid velocities?  I can't seem to find out how to do this!  I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
AGY

RE: Fluid velocity for pemeability

The name of the output is FLVEL: Pore Fluid Effective Velocity at Integration Points. It is there
If you do not see it then before running the job you should request this output under Request Field Output. Then rerun the job you will find it

I don't see FLVEL anywhere.  Is it called something different in ABAQUS 6.7?

RE: Fluid velocity for pemeability

I do not know why not. Under field request output  in standard ABAQUS this field exists under POROUS MEDIA/FLUIDS
make sure it is requested

Thanks for the quick response.  I just figured out that I need to set up the correct type of anaylsis (for soils) in order for the output field variable to be available . . . at least, this is what I believe!  I should have known that simply including permeability in the material properties isn't sufficient and I need to include some other settings as well.
