R & D on new type of Cerium Mischmetal

R & D on new type of Cerium Mischmetal

R & D on new type of Cerium Mischmetal

(OP)
Background :
The deposits of rare earths in China are quite abundant, at present, the market  demands for Neodymium Oxide and Cerium Oxide are increasing, meanwhile, the big problem is what produce 1 ton of Neodymium Oxide brings about 4 tons of by-product (called " La-Pr-Ce Chloride"), e.g. during the whole year of 1997, the annual output of Chinese Neodymium Oxide reached about 5,200 tons and its by-product about 21,000 tons accordingly, which, in some extent, restrained the stable development of China rare earths industry.

In view of this, we had focused our utmost efforts to solve this problem backed up with our powerful and specialized technicals and plentiful resouces to develop a brand-new mischmetal (so-called " La-Pr-Ce Mischmetal "), utilizing its by-products--the remained La-Pr-Ce Chloride as raw material which its Nd and Ce had been extracted.    This new type of La-Pr-Ce Mischmetal has high-quality and low-cost advantages comparing with the traditional Mischmetal, especially suitable for the production of LaNi5, a typical hydrogen storage alloy.
