Chemical grout to seal leaking cracks in retaining wall

Chemical grout to seal leaking cracks in retaining wall

(OP)
Any suggestions about a chemical grout to be used to seal leaking cracks in a retainig wall?
Since re-waterproofing is not an option at this time, repairs (using 3M Scotch-Seal chemical grout 5600 foam)were done in the past 3 years at as needed basis. Because this chemical grout has been discontinued (per contractor rep), I need to find a comparable product. Thanks a lot.

RE: Chemical grout to seal leaking cracks in retaining wall

Not sure on the use of chemical grout, but where's the internal drainage behind the wall (i.e., how come there's any hydrostatic pressure acting behind the wall)?  Make sure that this wall is designed for hydrostatic pressure!  If it's not and you do succeed in grouting, you may increase the overturning forces and fail the wall.

Just being a worrywart.

Maybe TAM crete or TAM rez. Have a look at TAM uk's website for a big list of products and applications.

Remember grouting doesn't solve water ingress, but just moves it elsewhere or, as Fatdad says, builds up hydrostatic pressure.

Could you not just drain the water in a controlled way?

When you grout through a wall the grout will fill all voids
If you have any working drains they will be filled.Think of grout travelling 50-100 ft along a drain and blocking everything.Excavate and replace the drains. If thats  not good try coating  inside with HLM 5000 or similar one coat sometimes more . This holds pressure to some extent its used on boats. The the fumes it gives off are strong and explosive, if open flames are around. There are also some crack fillers and home depot sells some stuff that might work. Filling a crack usually does little. Its just the most convenient place for the water to come through. It will still perculate through  adjacent  concrete in any event.

Try Sika Products.

Try Avanti or DeNeef grouts. Check Trenchlessonline for more info. You may want to reestablish some drains when done.

I work for a site contractor and we were recently  contracted to fill some hairline cracks in a containment pond. I used a hydrophilic grout from Prime Resins called "Prime Flex 900xlv" and saw good results. I have also researched Xypex and other waterstop grouts such as BASF waterstop of SikaPlug.
