Can i run SW on two screens

Can i run SW on two screens

Can i run SW on two screens

(OP)
I am wondering if I can run solid works on two screens so when I am creating assembly’s I can drag parts from one screen to the next.

RE: Can i run SW on two screens

That's something they're discussing in other boards and among SW developers.

Meanwhile, you know about the View > Horizontal/Vertical/Tiled Windows, right?

RE: Can i run SW on two screens

From the ATI Catalyst 8.1 release notes:

Quote:

MultiView™
Catalyst 8.1 introduces MultiView™ support. This feature provides for hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering across multiple graphics adapters. MultiView™ will provide hardware accelerated 3D rendering in a system containing multiple graphics cards on an extended desktop arrangement. This feature will allow for the rendering performance and additional frame buffer resources to be evenly shared with the second and third graphics adapters. This allows for a 3D applica- tion to have the same performance running on a secondary or third display device as if it were running on the primary display device. This feature will be supported under Windows XP (32 and 64 bit versions), Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit ver- sions), and the Linux operating system.

So that would come in handy for using SW on multiple monitors...

RE: Can i run SW on two screens

Hi Drivefast!
I am using SW with two monitors, but organize it with sw not running in fullscreen. I have the SW-window spanning from the middle of my left screen and the whole right screen. all my toolbars I have moved outside the sw-window, on the upper left quadrant of my left screen, and the design library on the bottom left quadrant of left screen. This makes the whole area of the right screen available for my sw- graphic, and my left screen for feature tree and tools.  Works wery nicely for me, so please try it out smile

RE: Can i run SW on two screens

BTW, if you have a Quadro, be sure to set it to "Multimonitor performance" mode, else the videocard will only provide one screen with hardware acceleration, instead of both.

This tool might also interest some of you (for managing window placement):

I don't use it myself, but the folks at tweakers.net (dutch hardware site) seemed to like it.
