material data base

how do I add physical property lines to the data base? how can I open it up in a spread sheet and make the changes then save it back. I tried to copy it to the desktop and change the extension to .xls so I could open it up in excel. It worked but when I saved it and changed the extension back to a .sldmat file type solidworks didn't recognize the file type.

Any help would be appreciated.

RE: material data base

Use a simple XML editor for the file. Change the extension to XML for editing. I often use Aptana IDE.
