Using Non linear spring elements in IDEAS

Using Non linear spring elements in IDEAS

Using Non linear spring elements in IDEAS

(OP)
When i use Non linear spring elements in IDEAS, i must define a dds file (notepad) in which i define the functioning points of the spring (displacement, load)..

However, all say that the load in the dds file (for the spring) must be given in mN even if the load in my file is given in N..is this true?? or it depends on the settings of IDEAS solver?? can anyone help?
txs in advance

RE: Using Non linear spring elements in IDEAS

Wouldn't it be possible to run a small test FEA model with just a few elements, one non-linear spring and a defined axial load on the spring? Using such a model, you can compare the deflection of the spring with values you get from a hand calculation and find out what unit system I-DEAS uses for the non-linear spring stiffness.
