Ratings for power cables

Ratings for power cables

Ratings for power cables

(OP)
Would someone be kind enough to give me a link to allowable current loads for power cables. I need to check for 240 volt 1Ph 5.8 kW.

Thanks

RE: Ratings for power cables

Although the question sounds very simple, it does not have a "One size fits all" answer.
You must check your local codes.

RE: Ratings for power cables

amps = 5.8 kw/.24 = 24 amps. Check the NEC table 310.16 for
cable ampacity. On the surface #10 thhn would do the job but you have not give all the info required to make the decision.

RE: Ratings for power cables

wareagle, but he didn't even say where in the world he is; maybe #10 and/or thhn has no relevance.  If only people would ask full, complete, questions.

RE: Ratings for power cables

I'm thinking free air vs. direct burial, full rating vs derated for multiple conductors, 60 deg. vs 90 deg. Oh, any high ambient conditions? 100% loading or 80% loading?
