Washers/Bushings

(OP)
Hi All:
I have steel axle(shaft)in aluminum part, and I doubt  eventually corrosion might take place due dissimilar metals.SO in order to aviod this I am planning to use bushing to reduce corrsion but I am worried about that busing being soft material may not take the load and might fail to transfer the load.

Please any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

thanks

RE: Washers/Bushings

Uhm?

Select the bushing material and size appropriately for the load.

RE: Washers/Bushings

Not sure, of your exact arrangement but.... as long as you treat one of the surfaces, say the aluminum via anodize then you shouldn't have a dissimilar metals issue.

RE: Washers/Bushings

Can you post some more specifics to the design?  One suggesting is using a metal backed bushing like these http://www.afmusa.com/bushings.metalbacked.asp

RE: Washers/Bushings

Make the bushing out of steel and have it cadmium plated.
