Regarding 653 related repairs to large EFR tanks with cement floor cover I am considering liners as an alternative to slotting the shell and installing a new floor. After doing a couple of slotting jobs I would prefer to leave the shell undisturbed. Since I cannot establish a corrosion rate without removing the cement or gunnite where do I stand in terms of compliance with the 653 regs?

Any further advice or experience appreciated.

RE: 653 repairs

That type of construction is not addressed in API-653, so you are on your own regarding compliance with API-653.

Thanks for the response.

Since we cannot establish corr. rate under the cement, how is the next insp. due date established?
