Anyone know the significance of the material ID in material DB's?  i.e. Can problems arise if they are changed such as when you add materials and want to maintain a certain orderliness to the listing?

thanks

RE: Material ID

Don't mess with the default database. Create a copy then mess with it

RE: Material ID

I'm not touching the SW "DB", making new one that is more applicable to how we use the info but I am making from a text file instead of through SW because it's easier to me for entering info.  I was trying to copy format of the SW "DB" which has "matid" variables, but I just did a little playing and I guess I dont need the "matid" for my custom ones.  So doestn appear to be a question anymore.  Unless someone knows a reason that a "matid" should be assigned?

Thanks
