methods of forming delrin?

(OP)
i am currently using delrin in a project and need to produce 6000 components of 6mm thick, L=300mm B=70mm, its a sine wave shape. i am currently considering a punch and die operation but need any suggestions or help.
Thank You.

RE: methods of forming delrin?

Delrin is fairly easy to cut, but can be a little brittle if punched.  The burrs and chips from any machining operation can be difficult to remove.

Delrin can be injection molded and thermoformed, but caution needs to be used not to over-heat - it decomposes with an unpleasant odor (try burning a little and smelling the smoke-carefully!).  Hot-wire cutting is not a good idea.

If you need to thermoform, make sure you have very good temperature control.  Otherwise, consider sawing or milling to get your final form.

Delrin is NOT resistant to strong acids - check your compatiblity tables before you commit.
