Rod Connection

Rod Connection

Rod Connection

(OP)
Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having in designing a connection to a stainless rod hanger. This hanger is going to be 19' in length is supporting a landing of a planned new stair in an existing steel building. I have most of the design done, and I'm trying to figure out how to attach a tie back at mid height of the rod. I'd like a smooth clean connection that can tighten around the rod with sufficient tightness to remain in place and sag/slide down the smooth finish of the stainless steel. I'd like for this to connect to a turnbuckle or coupler back to another rod that connects to the floor beam.

Any ideas or companies that produce this item? Please let me know.
Thanks.

Rick

You might want to take a look at www.ronstan.com and navigate to their "architectural rigging" page.

SteveMort,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm already going to be using the ARS3 system they have for the hanging rod. I'm not worried abuot the main rod connection/clevis supports. I'm worried about the sleeve/crimped connection at mid-height. To just grab the rod along the length. What do you think? I've emailed ronstan's tech. people for some ideas too.

Thanks.

RCraine,

What is the purpose of the horizontal bars?  Just decoration?

Hokie66,
It is mostly a brace for the rod. There is no real force in the member, but it is just to grab hold of that rod and keep it from vibrating, swaying and doing things that would make it less comfortable on the stair.

Let me know guys.

Thanks
