STEP File Saving Problem
STEP File Saving Problem
(OP)
I have version 2007 and prefer to convert solidworks files to STEP files for email. Noticed today solid files, in particular fillets, reverese themselves from concave to covex or vice versa. Problem is solved when I save under 2006 version still in my computer. Other seats in department read my 2006 saved solid files correctly but not my 2007 saved solid files correctly. I have had people email me back my 2007 saved files that they recieved incorrectly and my computer reads them correctly. Do not have IT Department or Solidworks maint. to help so I would appreciate any help in resolving problem.

When do you find the fillets reversed? Can you view STEP files without opening in another system, or is it happening when they reach their destination and are retranslated? What program is opening your STEP files?
You can use PS-Exchange to view STEP file contents without translating. <http://www.delcam.com>

RE: STEP File Saving Problem
I had problems saving a STEP file the otherday (different error), and just kept screwing around with the software until it worked.

Plus, SolidWorks is built on the parasolid kernel, so you don't get such anomalies as you mentioned--just nice stable results.
