Draining firewater

Draining firewater

Draining firewater

(OP)
When calculating the capacity for a drain of deluge water i have seen a recommendation in an engineering practice to use a formula for vertical liquid filled pipes.

But if the drain system is in fact not vertical (the standard is for offshore but the project in question is a FPSO) but contains sections with 1:50 slope should i then instead use the capacity for vertical non filled pipes based on Froud no. (about 1:10 of the capacity)? There is a total head difference but as i said - vertical sections and sloped sections.

Best regards

Morten

yes - but  mix allway though with a min 1:50 slope and no deadlegs (frost)
