I am looking to replace traditional steel mesh reinforcement with steel fibres for concrete slab work. Is there any software available, or hardcopy guides available that will tell me the kg/m3 required to replace a particular type of mesh or reinforcement.

This question has previously been asked in the Structural Engineers forum.

FIBERMESH is not suitable to replace tension reinforcement in suspended concrete slabs, but is suitable as an anti-crack measure in ground bearing slabs.

Steel fibers are used as secondary reinforcement in order to prevent the structural element from shrinkage.
In this way you can have a lot of microcracks well distributed instead of large macrocracks concentrated in some spots.
By the way, steel fibers are used for concrete pavement structures, especially for airports, generally in quantities varying from 20 to 80 kg/mc.
But remember: the higher the fiber quantity, the lower the workability of concrete.
