Dear all ,

I'm working in a water project ,Before few days the contractor tried to install 400mm Class 600  DJ to connect it with 400mm , class 600 butterfly valve , a problem occurred due to the difference between the dimensions shown at the submitted datasheet from manufacturer  and the actual dimensions measured onsite.

According to the datasheet (see attached datasheet and photos) , the maximum DJ Length (C-LENGTH) is 27.5”, the minimum length is 24.5”, and the nominal length is 26”. The tie rods length is 37.5 “ (95cm) . After measuring the dimensions on site it was observed that the minimum coupling length with the maximum penetration and with no gap is 30” , the tie rods length was not enough to connect and to restrain the DJ with the two adjacent flanges , the tie rods length was measured to be 95cm.                                                      In addition, the drawing is showing 24 holes for the DJ flanges with 6 tie rods configuration; however the actual number of holes is 20.

Please, we need to know if we can cut the penetrated part of the DJ (photos 3 &4) to shorten its length so as to match the dimensions shown at the datasheet drawing and to be able to use the 95cm tie rods. Does the cutting  have any effect on the pressure rate of the DJ ? ?

Your quick response is highly appreciated

Note : I tried to call the manufacturer but I'm didn't receive any response
