RE: Use of Brass plates in Proton therapy beam

techie08,

What exactly do you want to know?  Goahead provided a good link from MMS Online showing how these parts are created.  The aperature pieces are milled using large diameter brass bar, which is just a typical free machining grade like UNS C36000.  My son just completed proton radiotherapy in early January, so I am somewhat familiar with these pieces.  In fact, I will be the proud owner of two of them once they "cool" off from the radiation exposure.
