SECTIONED PART DISAPPEARING WHEN EDITING

SECTIONED PART DISAPPEARING WHEN EDITING

SECTIONED PART DISAPPEARING WHEN EDITING

(OP)
While an assembly is in a sectioned view and I go to edit a part, when I choose a face and open a sketch, the part being edited disappears.  If I exit the sketch the part reappears.  Any suggestions as to why this happens and how to keep it  from happening?  Thanks

RE: SECTIONED PART DISAPPEARING WHEN EDITING

I'm running SW07-SP5 and do not see this problem.
What are you using?

cheers

RE: SECTIONED PART DISAPPEARING WHEN EDITING

This is a known issue (SPR# 340916). Currently the only work around that exists while modeling the assembly in a "top-down" fashion is to use the ‘Edit Assembly’ feature without a section view. The part correctly displays without disappearing when editing a sketch within the assembly.
The part can also be displayed correctly by using the option to "Open Part" from within an assembly.  Using a section view here does not affect the part, and it is possible to edit the part as would be done normally.

Thanks for the replies... CBL.. I am also using 2007 sp 3.
Jeff... yes I realize the two suggestions you offered... I'd like to edit the part in the assembly so I can use the other components as a guide to sketch around when editing the part that (unfortunately) keeps disappearing.

But thanks again for the help.

John
