AVT Chemistry for Plants with Air Cooled Condensers?
AVT Chemistry for Plants with Air Cooled Condensers?
(OP)
I'm investigating what would be the best boiler/ feedwater treatment with plants that have Air cooled condensers (ACC). The plant I'm currently researching is currently on phosphate treatment for the boiler and using an amine in the feedwater. There are no condensate polishers and the plant has an ACC. What would be the best program for this plant. Would AVT (all volatile Treatment) be a good option?
Also the plant has air in leakage promblems.

RE: AVT Chemistry for Plants with Air Cooled Condensers?
As far as ACC vs any other type of condenser, a condenser is a condenser-it effects a phase change on the steam and does some other things such as separate and remove the non condensables in the process.
That said, if I had your assignment one thing I would check is your ACC's propensity to produce sub cooled condensate. If you have no sub-cooling (which means that you have limited O2 levels in the condensate), then that might dictate one path for you to take, but if you do have enough sub-cooling to have to be serious about it, then you have to consider the O2 levels in the condensate due to your high levels of air in-leakage and start from there.
