GASKET thickness with high pressure

GASKET thickness with high pressure

GASKET thickness with high pressure

(OP)
I will install the machine which is working pressure is about 20 bars, then I have a problem with leakage due to the alighment of pipe was not alight properly,  but when I change to PTFE gasket with 6 mm. the leak was stop. So, is it possible or not to use 6 mm. PTFE gasket with 20 bars in pipe.

RE: GASKET thickness with high pressure

Whatever that machine is,
You can't make the force on your nozzle too high.
It's not correct to do it like you propose.
Try to modify the pipeline.
My opinion only,

Greetings

RE: GASKET thickness with high pressure

Well it is somewhat difficult to understand your problem and gasket joint design is part engineering and part art. Gasket companies are very helpful.

Back to your problem, europipe is certainly correct in that you should correct the misalignment.

Also realize that PTFE gaskets relax and with your situation this may well happen and you will again experience leakage. PTFE is best used in a contained cavity so it cannot cold flow outward. Joint design is as important as gasket selection.

RE: GASKET thickness with high pressure

Have you checked the installation procedure?  Are they lubricating the gasket? Is alignment proper?

Thank you for all of recommedation , I will try to correct the alighment of piping.
Anyway how we know the maximum pressure for gasket.

Also, ASME Section VIII Div 1 Appendix 2 will give you guidance for a secure design.
