imported part color defaults to brown?-2008, Can it be changed?

imported part color defaults to brown?-2008, Can it be changed?

(OP)
I import different parts on a daily basis, and have been doing so since sw2003.  In the past they would usually import with in gray.  2008 hits and the default color is brown, which is very hard to discifer(not as bad as black).  Is there a way to change this default color.  I'm importing parasolids, steps, iges's, acis's, cad keys..whatever my customers are supplying.

Check the line format toolbar and select "Color Display mode" see if that makes a difference.

Many of the default colours were changed in SW08. I don't know if SP2 has changed this.

If you only have SW08 installed and it was a clean install, then the new default colours will be seen.

If you upgraded from a previous version or have multi-installs, the default colours would probably have been transferred.

You may be able to make changes from Tools > Options > System Options > Colors.

cheers

My imports in 08 are the the same as 07 gray. New install also... Didn't see any colors myself that would effect this in TOOLS > Options > System Options > Colors

I originally had done the "upgrade" install, but when I ran into problems my var suggested uninstalling all versions and starting from scratch.  upon doing so the default colors have changed.  Also the highlight of a par has changed color also, which is obnoxious, because I've become accustomed to making my parts, not that highlight color.  I've tried the format toolbar/colordisplay mode.  That only seems to be for drawing files, unless you know different.

RE: imported part color defaults to brown?-2008, Can it be changed?

Scott ... if you do a completely new install on a machine which has never had SW on it before, you will see the new colour defaults of SW08. I believe you have several versions of SW on the one machine. A multi-install will copy the settings from a previous version, even if specific install folders are used.

I have no idea why SW changed the default colours. Maybe to match better with Vista, maybe with Catia, who knows?

cheers

If you remove the reg setting and restart SW that will be the install defaults. - See Alternative to reinstall in the FAQ.
