NASM 1515 Fastener Systems for Aerospace Applications

NASM 1515 Fastener Systems for Aerospace Applications

NASM 1515 Fastener Systems for Aerospace Applications

NASM 1515 Fastener Systems for Aerospace Applications supersedes MIL-STD-1515 with the same name.

Can anyone point me to a corresponding document for ground-based mobile equipment?

RE: NASM 1515 Fastener Systems for Aerospace Applications

These two documents should point you in the right direction.

MIL-E-4158E - Ground Electronic Equipment
MIL-HDBK-454 - Electronic Equipment

What specifics are you looking for?

Goahead,

Thanks for the links, I am already familiar with both of those documents.

Heckler,

In short, I'm looking for a MIL-STD for ground mobile equipment with the same or similar recommendations pertaining to the use of threaded fasteners that are contained in the NASM standard.

RE: NASM 1515 Fastener Systems for Aerospace Applications

Did you actually look at MIL-HDBK-454 because guideline 12 covers fastener hardware such as quarter turn fastners MIL-F-5591.  This is the handbook we use as a guideline when we're designing ground mobile electronic equipment.

I haven't yet, but I'll take a look at HDBK-454.

I suspect it won't be quite what I'm looking for.  I'm interested in real mechanical stuff - trucks and tanks and artilliary.  Not wussie electronics poke

RE: NASM 1515 Fastener Systems for Aerospace Applications

Oh, when you say ground based mobile equipment I automatically think electronic equipment because in my world of ground based mobile is electronic equipment.

I would do a search on http://assist.daps.dla.mil/quicksearch/

You're right 454 will not help you.  I will dig through my Mil Spec Library....I'm sure I have something
