I would like to know what's "out there" for stress concentration factors in splines. The closest thing I could find was in St. Peterson's book that deals with SCF's in gear teeth.

In PETERSON'S STRESS CONCENTRATION FACTORS, Second Edition by Pilkey, a value of 2.8 is given in section 5.3 (splined shafts in torsion).

Thanks... I finally found the same information in Peterson's book (1974) in Chapter 5 section B page 248 - 249. I went through the calculations (from Peterson) and analyzed the spline as an involute gear. For the particular geometry I analyzed, I got a SCF = 2.39 as compared to the published SCF = 2.8 for a spline in Peterson's book. So I guess I was at least in the same ballpark. That's good to know; and thanks again.
