Should units be included following both numbers in a range?

Should units be included following both numbers in a range?

Should units be included following both numbers in a range?

(OP)
Is there an authority that suggests units should be included following both numbers in a range?

For instance, 125 N to 500 N versus 125 to 500 N ?

I have always used the latter method but recently heard the former method is correct.

Thanks,

David

The bottom of page one in this PDF, http://online.physics.uiuc.edu/courses/phys499/Fall07/TechnicalWritingRules-Aug07.pdf, suggests that only one copy of the unit should be included but the units are not the topic of discussion.

A space is shown between the number and unit unless the unit is preceeded by the degrees symbol, °.  I don't believe I was taught this but have always wrote units in this way because it looks proper to me.

The "former" is recommended.  Please refer to Section 7.7 of NIST Special Publication 811 Guide for the Use of the International System of Units (SI), available here:

Thanks Cory, that guide appears to be exactly what I was looking for.

That is an excellent link.  Thanks.
