Electric motor hp question
Electric motor hp question
(OP)
Does anyone know what the equivalent internal combustion engine horsepower rating would be on a: 350hp 1780RPM 445T Frame 460volts
I am assuming the 350 is maintained horsepower, since that is how electric motors are rated. What is the peak?
Also, if anyone knows what one of these weighs, that would be great to.
Thanks!

100hp 3530RPM 365TS Frame
RE: Electric motor hp question
To get this same continuous and peak output from an internal combustion engine would require sizing the engine more closely to the peak hp than the continuous hp.
This assumes that your load is using all the continuous and peak output the electric motors can give. If your load is not using all of it, you could size your internal combustion engine to the peak load hp instead.
I'm not sure I believe the nameplate data for the 350hp. I've never seen 350hp at 1780rpm squeezed into a 440 frame, and a 445T at that. You might want to double check that.

DickDV,
Reliance (now Baldor) for one offers up to 500HP in a 440 frame, although it is a TEBC inverter duty motor.
