pipe material AP15l against A283 gr C

(OP)
Our specification calls for pipe nozzles from 600mm to 1600mm diameter to be constructed from AP15L. the manufacturer has used A283 Grade C.

Do we have a problem ? Service is for potable water at about 33 degrees C.

The specified steel is API 5L grade B

RE: pipe material AP15l against A283 gr C

No, I don't see a problem with what you stated for your application. The American Water Works Association (AWWA) endorses this ASTM plate specification among others for use in welded pipe for water service. There is a slight reduction in YS and UTS for the A 283 Grade C plate material versus API 5L Grade B.

I would ask for information from the supplier as to how the A 283 Grade B pipe was fabricated.
