I am fairly new to Solid Edge, most of my experience is with AutoDesk Inventor.  I remember with Inventor I could set interference parameters on individual parts in an assembly.  If I performed a "move" (similar to the "Move Parts" command in Solid Edge where you can move a part linearly or rotate it) on a part and if it came into contact with the second part (which is also unconstrained) it would move it out of the way.  For instance a cam and cam follower, as the cam is rotated on its axis and it came into contact with the follower, the follower would follow the profile of the cam.  All of this would be done without setting any angular relationships on the follower with respect to the cam.  Is there a way I can do this in Solid Edge?

Hi,

no, SE does not have this capability.
For the example 'cam and follower' you can use the relation 'Cam'
I don't know whether the new function in V20 'Move Multiple Parts'
can do that but I think the answer is again: no.

Yes, you can.

In the move command, there is an option to not analyze, analyze interference only, or analyze motion.  By default, no analysis is set since most users - when using that command - aren't testing for motion and doing so takes a long time depending on computer hardware.  Click on the move part command, click on the parameters icon in the toolbar, and change it to analyze full motion.
