Membrane scaling question
Membrane scaling question
(OP)
I ran my sample with a pilot membrane (diameter 1.05 in, length 12 in, and surface area 0.13 m^2), I used a crossflow velocity of 1.8 m/s and had an average flux of about 49 GFD, my permeate flow avergae was about 184 mL/min.
I need to scale it to determine what would be my feed flow and permeate flow in an industrial size membrane (diameter 5.6 in, length 32 in, and surface area 10 m^2). how do I go about this?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Membrane scaling question
in my opinion, you can let the retentate recirculate, i.e. flow back into the feed, then whatever the concentration retio you want, it is no problem, beacuse in the course of recirculation, the concentration of product will be higher and high, stop it when the concentration is approving to you.
