Whats the best way to determine the energy produced by a permanent magnet cogging (completing) a magnetic circuit. I suspect it would be the same for uncogging (removing the  magnet from the circuit). Envision a ferrite ring with a gap essentally the same size as the permanent magnet to close it. There is a coil winding of wires around that ring. Measure the energy from the coil as the magnet cogs into the gap... for an actual circuit assume a diode (bridge rectifier for both directions) across the coil and a storage capacitor on the other side... this should take the voltage and current out of the equation and make it a stored charge. I'm just looking for a simple equation for determining the answer to this problem.
