Animate part following a curved path?

Animate part following a curved path?

Animate part following a curved path?

(OP)
Hi All,

I'm trying to animate some sheets of LVL and I was wondering if it's possible to have an extrusion animation where the extrusion follows the path, but the path is also defining the shape?

60% of the time, it works every time.

RE: Animate part following a curved path?

To clarify, you want the sheet (as shown) to move along the sketched path and take the shape of the path as it moves along it?

If LVL = Laminated Veneer Lumber (similar to plywood?), would the veneer bend like that?

cheers

RE: Animate part following a curved path?

You can get it to follow the path, but you wouldn't be able to get that particular part to bend. I think you'd have to do it with multiple parts that suppress/unsuppress, emulating movement/flexing.
Then again, I've been known to be wrong in the past. I'm pretty sure I'm right this time though.

Thanks for the always helpful advice people.

And to answer your question yes the sheet will move along the path and take the shape of the path as it moves.

60% of the time, it works every time.
